Bladder Stones

Nan has a 7mm bladder stone. I know she isn't a 65 year old guy with prostate issues, but I have it on tape. It's pretty common in children in developing countries. So we spent the morning at the hospital. We're going to try to get back earlier if possible, we'll see what we can do. She's still going potty okay so if anything changes we'll go back to the hospital.

From Jenny. Oh poor girl! That is no fun at all. But I have heard that it is better for girls than boys - the boys can have a blockage easier because of a smaller urethra. She will be fine just get her home as quick as possible and our docs, here, will have her fixed up in no time.

Jo,
Nan's bladder stone is probably not going to cause any immediate problems because it is a pretty large one and won't be able to block her urethra because it is too large to move down it. Should she start to have pain or difficulty urinating, the oldest remedy for it is to hold the patient upside down, so the stone will float away from the urethral opening(No Joke) As soon as she gets back, those things are easily pulverized. Your Mom is exactly right!!! Holding them upside down should do the trick to get the stone to move out of position if it should happen to settle on top of her urethra. Jenny
